Behind the Scenes of Chasing The Sun by Kaci Rose

So now that you’re officially in my world… I owe you the behind-the-scenes tea on Chase the Sun. ☕️

 

True story: I imagined this beach town, then found what was in my head AFTER the books were published!

 

I had Kade's story in my head for a while, but not the location. Then the location came to me one day while scrolling Pinterest, and I put a whole board together for the book. (including the picture that inspired the WALL scene!)

 

 

Kade was just a hero who needed his story told at this point. You know the type — grumpy on the outside, soft cinnamon roll center, says all the wrong things until he finally says the one right thing. 🥺

 

Then I jumped into planning the next book. 

Of course, it has to be the best friend!

 

 

Humming Bird Island is real to me — the salty air, the warm sand, the way the sunrise hits the dock first thing in the morning. I wrote a lot of these scenes from my couch with coffee, but my heart was 100% on that beach.

 

Then, a couple of years ago, years after writing the books, I stumbled into Depoe Bay, Oregon, and I felt like I was in the setting for my books! The only difference is that Depoe Bay is not an island (but we can pretend!!)
