My mountain man just had a delivery mailed to his door. Me.
Willow:
I was out of options when I signed up for the website. Now I’m a modern day mail-order bride and I’ve been delivered to the doorstep of my mountain man groom.
Bennett is a gentle giant who tells me that he knew I was his from the moment he saw me. I’m on the run from my past, and the mountain man’s bed is the best place to stay hidden.
I just need my secrets to stay hidden too.
Bennett:
She’s a tiny slip of a thing that I can lift one-handed, but my new bride is a spitfire too. From the moment I saw her, I knew I would do anything to protect her.
And nobody messes with what is mine.
Our marriage has been consummated in body, but I intend to have her heart and soul too. And that means that my sweet bride has to tell me everything. Even her darkest secrets.
Now that I have her, I won’t let her go. And anyone who threatens our life together is going to have a giant problem on their hands.
Me.
Chapter 1 Look Inside
Chapter 1 Look Inside
Chapter 1
Willow
I grew up in a small town outside Chicago and thought going into the city would be my biggest adventure. Boy, was I wrong.
If only my dad could see me now, taking a bus across the country to marry a guy I don’t know in two weeks. That alone would probably kill him if he weren’t already dead.
When my dad lost his battle with cancer, his savings didn’t cover all his medical bills and funeral costs. I paid those expenses by selling our house, which effectively left me homeless. After what happened at the funeral, I needed to get out of town fast.
I stayed in a women's shelter for a week, and my friend Aspen allowed me to crash at her place. Like me, her mother had just passed from cancer, and she was looking for a way to make some money to keep her house.
She ended up selling her virginity in an auction at Club Red. I think about her and wondering how it's going. I decided to look into the mail-order bride website one of the ladies mentioned at the women's shelter.
So, I'm on my way to meet Bennett, my future husband. We’ve talked through email, and I know he lives on a mountain in a small town called Whiskey River in Montana. Apparently, it's not easy to meet girls, and with his friends all married, he decided to take an unconventional approach to find a wife.
I figure a tiny, hard-to-find town on a mountain is the perfect safe place to let my guard down for the first time in months.
After signing the contracts, Bennett sent me enough money to get to Whiskey River, cover my food and costs along the way, and have plenty left over.
I had no idea that mail-order websites still existed outside the Old West novels my dad liked to read. But I guess it's a different type of dating, like the reality TV show where they get married before they even meet.
The photos I have of Bennett will be the only way I'll recognize him once I arrive at the bus stop. With Whiskey River being such a small town, we agreed to meet a few towns over to avoid drawing any attention to ourselves.
When I look into his dark brown eyes in the photos, they appear kind. My dad always said a person's eyes were a window to their soul. But let's be honest, he's not bad-looking. His hair is a bit long, and his muscles tell me he's accustomed to hard work—as I'm sure any mountain man is.
Though I was nervous about living on the mountain, Bennett assured me he didn’t need me for the hard work, and the house would be my domain. I’ll cook, clean, and decorate while he provides for us and our future family.
My nerves kick in as the mountains come into view. Not for the first time, my thoughts race with uncertainty. Is there a way to do this without marrying a stranger? Nothing comes to mind.
I distract myself by reading one of the books I picked up for a quarter at the local library sale before heading out of town.
At last, we reach my bus stop, and I look out the window, trying to spot Bennett. It’s easy to recognize him. He’s taller than most people and sticks out in the crowd. He looks exactly like his pictures as he stands there with his arms crossed, staring at the bus with a blank expression.
Maybe I can stay on the bus to the next town, get a different ticket, and email him an apology in a few days. But my dad taught me always to follow through when you give your word. So I stand, gather my bag, and make my way to the front of the bus.
Bennett can't see into the bus because the windows are tinted, but I can see him, and his eyes are glued to the bus door. I hesitate for a second before stepping out to meet him.
The moment our eyes lock, his expression softens, and his arms drop. He makes his way over to me, offering an awkward smile. "Willow."
It’s not a question, so I simply nod.
"Bags?"
I nod again.
We walk over to where they're unloading bags from the extra storage area on the bus. When I see mine, I reach for it, but he places his hand on mine. He picks up my bag as if it weighs nothing, puts his other hand on the small of my back, and carefully guides me to the parking lot.
Even though he's awkward, I find it adorable, and it helps to settle my nerves. He leads me to a well-used truck covered in dirt, but the inside is clean when he opens the door.
He places my bags in the back before helping me into my seat, closing the door once I'm buckled in. He walks to the driver’s side, giving me a minute to take a deep breath and recenter myself.
"Ready to head home?" he asks once he’s in his seat.
It’s hard to think of a place I've never seen as home.
"Yes. I’ll be happy to get there," I say, summoning a smile.
He puts the truck in gear and navigates onto a small two-lane highway as we head out of town.
"Will you tell me about Whiskey River?" I ask, wanting to know more about where I’ll be living.
"I think you'll like it here. The people are friendly. We have a small downtown area with a few stores, including a bakery and a café. The town has a few events throughout the year, which we can go to if you like. I know it's not Chicago, but I promise we can find you plenty to do here, too," he says, glancing my way.
So basically, it's the typical small town. It’ll take some getting used to, but it's a fair tradeoff if it means not looking over my shoulder constantly.
"If I wanted Chicago, I would have stayed there. Small-town life seems perfect right now, and I can't wait to see Whiskey River." I offer him a smile, and he seems to relax.
Once we get close to Whiskey River, Bennett lets me know, and we drive down Main Street. Right in front of us is a huge mountain you can see when walking down the street. Downtown has a cute mountain town vibe with rustic wood and stonework. Main Street has everything from a thrift store to a little grocery store, a café, a bakery, an outdoor store, the bank, and more. It doesn't take long to drive through before we’re heading toward the mountain.
"Come winter, it'll be harder to get into town. But the upside is we’ll be able to do winter sports if that's something you're interested in," Bennett explains.
"I've always wanted to go sledding, but I've never been."
"Not too far from the house is a great hill perfect for sledding.”
As we continue up to his place, I take in the fantastic views of the mountain and the scenery below. We turn into his driveway, and it's still a long way up to his cabin. When we break through the trees, I gasp in wonder.
His house looks like a resort with a breathtaking vista of the mountains in the background. It reminds me of the upscale rustic ski lodges you see in magazines, with its pretty porch and large windows to take full advantage of the views. On one side of the house is a garden, and on the other are outbuildings and what looks like a large barn.
"This is your house?" I ask in shock.
"Yes. I wanted to take advantage of the view." He seems a little nervous again.
"It's stunning. I was seriously picturing a little cabin in the woods."
When he smiles this time, it's a full, genuine one. My heart skips a beat at how beautiful this man is when he smiles.
He gets out of the truck, grabs my bags, and opens the door for me. Taking a deep breath, I take my first step on the mountain I’ll be calling home.

Love this series and took advantage of an offer to buy at discounted price...it was the only one in series that I do not have. Two benefits for the process of one.
I enjoyed the storyline,
but I was expecting a little more tension from Willow's side.
Lovely book, ended up reading them all. Now reading Oakfield series. A++++
She's running from her aunt and uncle in Chicago after her uncle tries to rape her at her fathers funeral. To escape she signs up to be a mail order bride.Bennett is tired of being alone especially seeing how happy his friends are after meeting the women in their lives. He comes across the mail order bride website and is drawn to Willow.Their story is suspenseful, sweet and has an attempted kidnapping.
Totally love these mountain men. Dominate, alpha to the core, yet totally dedicated to the women in their lives. First meetings aren’t always the best but things work out.
As with each of this author's books, I was pulled in immediately and couldn't stop reading. I am so impressed with Kaci Rose and look forward to reading everything I can get my hands on that's written by her.Great storyline; well written and makes me want more 😀
4th in the series. Fantastic read. Cant wait to read whatever comes next. Already preorded for next in series!
I have loved Bennett in everyone of the other books and knew his story would be different.Bennett is the other quiet guy of the mountain family but I knew he had a big heart even if it never was really shown.Willow is a scared young woman who is still grieving her father's death and the fear of what she's running from.Bennett and Willow are perfect for each other from the start.I love how mountain family stick together and help each other when needed including Jack. I still hope he has his own story.I felt like this one was missing so much that could of made it more enjoyable. The Emma story could of been so much more or why Emma really acted that way and what happened to Willows best friend? Im assuming thats how the uncle got the number. Also there were a lot of mistakes.I do love all of Mrs. Rose books I've read.I can't wait for Storms book and am so happy he moved to the mountains.
This was a great finish to the mountain man series. I loved this book and the series. I will be reading more books. Look my books.
Bennett’s story is similar to the others, except for how him and Willow meet. Willow has trouble following her, just like the other women, which means that the group will protect her. The characters are so much fun to read and the men make you hope to find your own Mountain Man.
Each book just keeps getting better. A mountain man with hope and a woman with a secret. Beloved characters from previous books add to the great. A friendship and a romance and something sinister. This is a standalone book but is so much better when read in order. Looking forward to Book 5.
This is Bennett and Willows story. And it seems every story I read in the series gets better and better.
You do spin a fantastic story! Thanks and please keep sharing your wonderful imagination with us. I just love your voice in your stories and all the little details! Hugs!

This series can be read as a standalone, but the stories are interconnected so you really will get the most out of reading if you read them in order.I enjoyed this modern day, mail order bride storyline and the writing was great. The suspense was sprinkled throughout to keep me hooked and wondering what Willow is running from and what is going to happen when her past catches up to her.The chemistry between Willow and Bennett is strong and I could feel their connection right away. This is a must read book and series for sure!By Alisa

Really loved this entire series!
Bennett hasn’t had the same luck as his friends when it comes to finding the woman he wants to spend his life with. When he sees Willow on a website for mail order brides he knows that she is the one and doesn’t hesitate to bring her to his home.Willow is going through a difficult time in her life, and she now finds herself in danger. Bennett makes her feel safe and cherished and she begins to have hope for the future, but her past is about to catch up with her.Everything Willow has been through has made her stronger and more resilient while Bennett is determined to show her she can trust him with her heart and her life.
Willow & BennettMail order Bride or at least a matching web sight. It might not have been her dream of the future but she had to get away and had nothing to fund the escape. Off to the mountain. He'd tried his friend's suggestion of a dating website. All the guys in their mountain group had found the women to complete their lives. The women in the little town weren't what he was looking for. But the websites didn't fit until he saw the one for brides and her picture. She was the one. While they got along from the start, with a little hesitance, his patience helped them find their future and the other couples made her feel part of the group. However, she had a secret. He knew it but wouldn't push her. Would she ever trust him enough to share?A touching story, great characters, and a dangerous secret.Reviewed for Words Turn Me On

“Take Me to the Mountain” is another great installment to the series and I enjoyed Bennett and Willow’s story.Bennett is one of the men on the mountain that is still single. Encouraged by Emelie to try online dating, Bennett looks at a few sites and ends up on a modern mail order bride site. Despite how they met, there is a clear chemistry and connection between the two.I love the quiet and protective men of Whiskey River and Bennett is one of those for sure. His instant protectiveness over Willow was one of my favorite things about him. Willow went through some tough things and he was willing to do whatever he needed to do to make her comfortable. Hot, amazing, talented, caring men that know how to provide for their women, oh my gosh, SIGN ME UP. Not going to lie, I totally get why Willow would be a mail order bride, I would too if I could get a guy like Bennett... or Axel, or Phoenix, or Cash... my goodness! These guys are a different kind of breed and I LOVED reading this series and I was happy to find out it might not be quite over yet....If you are looking for a book that has a man that is utterly devoted to his woman, who is strong in her own right and put through her own hardships, and their chemistry burns brighter than fireflies at night, this is definitely the book, and series, for you! I am a goner, I would be SO EXCITED if this author just keeps writing more and more of these kinds of mountain men because I would read EVERY SINGLE BOOK. This is definitely 5 outta 5 stars from me.

Title: Take Me to the MountainAuthor: Kaci RoseFormat: ebookGenre Romance, Mountain Man, Mail Order BrideStandalone: yesPart of a Series: Book 4 of Mountain Men of Whiskey RiverPOV: Willow, Bennett, EmelieSteam Level: slow burn to steamy5/5This is the fourth book of the Mountain Men of Whiskey River series. Each are a stab with interconnected characters. Take Me to the Mountain is a modern-day mail-order bride romance. I loved the Ste ant build up, the sweet protectiveness and suspense of what Willow was running from. I also love Emilie’s protectiveness of the guys and their girls on the mountain. This is such a fun series and it seems like more mountain men will be coming soon. I can’t wait to read more. I’m really enjoying Kaci Rose’s writing abd Take Me to the Mountain was a great addition to this series.I received an advanced copy of this book for free. This is my honest and voluntary review.
This is the fourth book in this amazing series, and this is Bennett and Willow’s modern-day mail-order bride story. This is a well written story which has family, friendships, intrigue, secrets, and love, which leads to a touching and entertaining page turner.I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
